On the way to work, I got on a bus and found out that I needed change for RM5.
Asked the first guy I saw and he in turn, asked the girl next to him.
She took out her wallet and dug around, then looked up and asked, “How much do you need?”
I said a dollar, so she hands me one and smiles, “For you.”
Soon as I paid my fare, I looked into my stash of coins and found enough for a dollar.
She kept extending her arms out to touch mine, saying with a big bright smile, “It’s okay. It’s for you.”
The last time this happened, I was going around the bus looking for change for RM10. A kind gentleman held out a dollar note.
He was giving it to me!
Now that this is happening again, of course, a part of me is giving me a hard time about it, “Why didn’t you check for change earlier?
You should’ve known better!”
